我不知道天使所拜的君王，
為何這樣愛憐世上罪人，
為何又像牧人去尋找迷羊，
引領他們歸回祂的羊圈。
但我知道，祂從馬利亞而生，
卑微降生在伯利恒馬槽，
居住長大在拿撒勒辛苦作工，
我深知救主，為世人今已來到。
我不知道祂如何默然受苦，
將祂平安安慰這流淚谷，
祂又如何在十字架上心碎，
三十三年換來痛苦冠冕。
但我知道，祂手醫治我心傷，
除我罪惡使我恐怖消散，
凡擔重擔的人都能享受安息，
因我的救主，為世人祂在這裏。
我不知道祂如何能得民心，
如何承受祂屬地的產業，
無論何人不論何處或善惡，
祂又如何滿足他們需要。
但我知道，眾人必見祂榮光，
所撒的種祂必親自收割，
必有一日公義的日頭要普照，
那時我救主，必定被世人知道。
我不知道全地要如何敬拜，

141 I Cannot Tell

1. I cannot tell why He whom angels worship, Should set His love upon the sons of men, Or why, as Shepherd, He should seek the wanderers, To bring them back, they know not how or when. But this I know, that He was born of Mary When Bethlehem’s manger was His only home, And that He lived at Nazareth and labored, And so the Savior, Savior of the world is come.
2. I cannot tell how silently He suffered, As with His peace He graced this place of tears, Or how His heart upon the cross was broken, The crown of pain to three and thirty years. But this I know, He heals the brokenhearted, And stays our sin, and calms our lurking fear, And lifts the burden from the heavy laden, For yet the Savior, Savior of the world is here.
3. I cannot tell how He will win the nations, How He will claim His earthly heritage, How satisfy the needs and aspirations Of East and West, of sinner and of sage. But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory, And He shall reap the harvest He has sown, And some glad day His sun shall shine in splendor When He the Savior, Savior of the world is known.
4. I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship, When, at His bidding, every storm is stilled, Or who can say how great the jubilation When all the hearts of men with love are filled. But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture, And myriad, myriad human voices sing, And earth to Heaven, and Heaven to earth, will answer: At last the Savior, Savior of the world is King!
